The Origins of Steelecreek Properties
When several large tracts of privately owned, untouched, East Texas lakefront property was released to the marketplace several years ago, two Dallasites with a love of the beautiful woods there took the opportunity.
Dreaming of a tranquil escape from the daily traffic jams, noise, and pace of life in Greater Dallas, the two men envisioned weekend retreats for themselves and acquaintances. Involved in virtually every facet of the real estate business, including residential and commercial development and investment activities, the two men are accountants by training and have been partners for almost two decades. Their mutual interest in land and the outdoors is lifelong. As a 12-year-old, George S. Watson remembers helping his grandmother develop land in Houston. R. Michael Berry reminisces about watching his father put together land joint ventures in the cotton fields that would one day become Flower Mound, Texas. With a lifelong commitment to the lakefront properties, Messrs. Watson and Berry ensure that only the highest standards in land and water development are being used. They believe that by setting the standards high and taking care of the little details now—not later—the investment pays off in perpetuity. Mr. Watson and Mr. Berry carefully divided the parcels of land and developed them with two goals in mind. Their primary goal is to keep the integrity of the land, thereby guaranteeing its value, while providing a weekend retreat for those weary of the city pace. By honoring the land, sparing the ax, and generously proportioning parcels, they have preserved an environment and put a premium on creating as much privacy as possible. Property owners have every opportunity to enjoy the tree-laden land and the spring-fed waters with their families. Their other goal is to provide landowners with comfortable, livable homes reflective of the woods and lake environment. The Steelecreek custom designs for homes, boat docks, and boat houses show the care and personal touch that only those who are most intimately involved with the land have. Something you wouldn’t normally expect of two CPAs. Steelecreek Development property is about getting back to what is important in life…having a safe, fun place to be without the intrusions of everyday city life.
